Pro Stock Stiffness?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Awhile ago I picked up a couple Pro-Stock Wyatt Smith Stealth CNTs from my buddy who was a stick boy for the Norfolk Admirals while he was playing junior hockey in VA. Obviously the sticks don't say what flex they are, but from what I can tell they're at least 110 if not higher. I just snapped one the other day, and noticed that there are some threads which run through all four corners of the stick (see picture below...they are a pretty noticeable yellow). I was curious as to whether anyone has seen something like this in a stiffer PS stick, or if they are just the mark of an older-style stick, or even exclusive to the CNTs, Easton, etc. Anyone have any insight/expertise?

Thanks!

One of the unique features of the CNT was the the 4 corners were highly re-inforced with Kevlar.

While Easton says the S19 has a Kevlar wrapped shaft there is no where near the same amount of it down the shaft and definitely not bulking up the corners. But I have noticed the upper and lower edges of the elliptical section to have yellow fibers through it before.

The only way to get the same shaft now is custom order from Easton. One of the guys on my team did that a couple of years ago because he loved the CNT, not sure if they are still available to custom order though sorry.
