Blade Pattern Question

Recommended Posts

I am just looking to purchase some new sticks for the upcoming season, and have looked everywhere but can't find an answer, does any manufacturer offer a PM9, Zetterburg Curve blade with a square toe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

TPS Stoll is essentially a P055, which is a Lidstrom clone...

First things first - what do you consider a square toe? There are toes like the Lidstrom which is very square:

And there is patterns like the Heatley which many consider semi-square:

If you only consider the top image a square toe then you are stuck with pro-stocks. The only players that I can think of that use a heel/mid-heel and shallow pattern with a closed face is Justin Braun and one of the Gionta's (not sure which one). If you are a righty, check out this stick: http://www.prostockhockeygear.com/Reebok-11K-Braun-RH_p_915.html

Now - if you consider the Heatley style pattern square as well, then that opens up some retail options as follows:

1. Easton Heatley: When compared to the Easton Zetterburg, this will be more of a mid curve than a heel curve. The Lie is similar, they both have closed faces, but the Heatley will be more of a deeper mid-curve than a shallow heel curve.

2. Warrior Kovalchuk: Essentially the same as the Heatley which you get it in a Lie 4. I personally owened a Warrior L4 Kovalchuk and Warrior L4 Savard (their version of the Zetterburg) at the same time. The depths and where the curves bent were earily similar to each other. Maybe it was mental, but they played damn near the same to me.

3. Warrior Vanek. A lot of people transition from the Zetterburg to the Vanek. The Vanek is a very straight curve (even moreso than the Zetterburg but it is a slightly open faced curve.
