kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Hey I just purchased Nike V-12's and am getting a Red Star Alloy for them, but was wondering what size I should go for.... My Skates are 8.5D and the sizing chart is as follows:Red Star ChassisSizing Chart * (72mm, 80mm wheels) Frame Size | Fits boot sizes Small 6 - 8.5 Medium 9 - 9.5 Large 10 - up My Question is Since a Size SMALL fits up to 8.5, but a medium starts at size 9, Do you think the small would be too small or should I go with it....I need advise.... ;)
MDE3 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 If the Nike Ice boots are the same sizing as the Nike inlines, and the Nike HiHo's and XII's are supposed to be essentially the same boot...then get the medium...the size 8 HiHo's we had were the same as size 9's in many other skates. I mounted a "small" Labeda Hum'er chassis on the size 8 HiHo's and the sole plates were really too close together, which made the mounting much more difficult than it should have been. Lucius 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2004 1. I'd advise against blowing your money on the chassis, as I have it on my Vapor 10s, and the weight difference once you consider the weight of the boot, wheels, bearings, and spacers, is virtually nothing. $170 for a very small percentage decrease in overall weight?2. If you have your heart set on buying it...my 10.5 Vapor 10s have a medium Alloy on them - I would buy the small for a 8.5 boot.
MDE3 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2004 I repeat...the size 8 HiHo's which are supposed to fit exactly the same as the Nike V12's, are the equivalent of a size 9 in most other skates...we mounted a "small" Hum'er on it and the soleplates were too close together....if the HiHO's and V12's run the same sizing (call BNH to verify)an 8.5 should be even larger..get the medium, or bring in the boot to a local LHS where you can compare it to a size 8.5 HiHo...and get whichever size chassis is on the HiHO's. At least that was true for the Hum'er chassis, where the axle to axle (front to rear) wheelbase is the same on the small Hum'er and the Medium Hum'er. Only the space between the sole plates changes between a small and a medium Hum'er.
