RX:60 price drop!

Recommended Posts

Now that the Bauer APXR's are up for pre-orders (available Sept 15), most of the online shops like Inlinewarehouse, hockeygiant and monkey have dropped the prices on the RX:60's to a half way decent $529. At this point, they appear to have most sizes.

Speaking from personal experience, these skates are the best fitting solid high end performance skate I have ever had. I even upgraded the magnessium chassis to a set of Sprung's... Nothing short of incredible!!!

The x60 ice skates dropped in price, even below the $529, a while ago...why not just go with the x60s vs the rx60s? That's what i did -- not sure about how much difference there is between the two.

That certainly is an option. However it would require a conversion to install a new Inline chassis... If you didn't have one, that would mean you would have to purchase a chassis, and that would certainly make the cost much higher.

The other thing is that the RX:60 has some design features that are of benefit to Roller vs ice hockey. For one, the RX has beefed up scuff guards on both sides of the boot just behind the toe cap. I find that I make good use of those! Also the RX has small perforations in the tongue/lace bite panel that allow it to breathe a bit better then the ice skate, that seems fairly important as well!

That being said, the X:60 ice skate uses a full Carbon outsoul vs the RX which uses Texalium, thus the Ice skate may be slightly stiffer? So there is always a give and take with any conversion.
