makes sense. I think i am going to do an old switcheroo and tape them to the hosel instead. I tried stick handling a golf ball in the garage with pucks taped to the blades (yep, its as stupid as it sounds)...shaft is definitely a much better idea for strength and still allows for control. thanks Chadd and Steelnation248 for your input.

i guess everyone is definitely different. I am finding this helped me alot. taped 2 pucks to the stick shaft, 3/4 of the way down, also got some pvc pipe about 5 inches long and slid it down the stick (this way i only use my top hand when stick handling)...

got a golf ball and started doing stick handling drills with it for 15 minutes (on and off)

then doing the same stick handling drills with a normal stick.

its definitely helping alot, also finding that my strength to pick up pucks/passes with my top hand only on the stick has increased immensely.

going to try the weighted vest idea at a few power skating classes as well. Anything to help better my overall game.

If you're taping weights to your stick OR training with weighted pucks, make sure to use a stick with a decently stiff flex. If you use a really whipy stick, it'll flex to much, and you'll get a tonne of annoying lag on both shots and stickhandling.

I like that ankle weight idea. A coach for a clinic I did had a huge 5 pound puck that was just crazy to work with.

Maybe I should try something like this, so perhaps I could get my shots off before SOMEBODY gets in the way for a quick poke check :-)
