Sharks #5 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2011 Looking at getting some new skates but torn between the 11k's with the hummer or the new APXR's. Liking the fit of my current reebok's but not so sure about durability. Please help...
#96 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2011 I don't have any feedback on Reebok skates, other than my teammate has 8ks (white) and loves them. I felt them today, and I wasn't impressed. Not very stiff and the ankle padding felt kind of pillowy, like too much material and very soft. Not sure of that's a Reebok feature though.I did pick up the APXRs and was impressed, very stiff and felt very sturdy/well made. VERY light, definitely the lightest skate I've ever felt and I'm in RX60s now. If I had the money to drop on them, I would.
henryb 4 Report post Posted October 23, 2011 If the APXR's are an improvement on the RX:60's, then wow, your discision should be quite easy. The RX:60's are incredible. The key will be whether you can find a good match for your foot size and shape. Fortunately, they come in 2 width's and a half sizes in length... so you should be able to find a good fit. That being said, I have been on Bauers for ice hockey for years, and I still had to have my RX:60's baked twice and one hot-spot punched out. But now... OMG, they fit like a second skin! Vet88 674 Report post Posted October 23, 2011 Over the last 3 years I've skated in 9ks and 10ks. I've currently gone back to the Crimson Shadow 9ks as I got a great deal from a web store on some old stock. If they fit your feet then stick with Rbk as I have never found a Mission or Bauer skate to fit the same (the Bauer toe cap drives me nuts). The downside to Rbk is they go softish in the ankles after a while of hard use and the 10ks had problems with the boot lifting off the sole (lol, at a recent tournament I was at you could tell who was using Rbks from a distance as they all had tape around the bottom of the boot holding things together!). So saying the tape is an easy fix and it works really well. Whether or not they have fixed this in the new 11k design I don't know yet but at least the Hummer frame will handle it if you are a big person. If you skate a lot then my thoughts would be about the change in your skating style with a slightly different pitch and wheel set up.
