a komets fan 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2011 I was told by someone that if you don't lace the top eyelet of your skates, your skates will breakdown a lot quicker. I feel like it would be the opposite because you're having more force tugging on the boot with the top eylet laced when flexing forward.I figured someone on here would know for sure. Thanks in advance.
rachael7 1 Report post Posted November 18, 2011 Whether it does or not is irrelevant. Lace the eyelet or don't, as suits your skating style. Saving the boot at the expense of your skating would be stupid and lacing that eyelet makes such a difference, everyone will have a preference one way or the other. Just go with what feels right. billygoat 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2011 Since I was little I have always left at least one or two eyelets undone depending on the boot. My skates never broke down any quicker in terms of stiffness.. It was generally wear and tear that killed 'em first. Don't worry about it. Lace as many or few eyelets as you like.
