New Bauer pads and pants comparison

Recommended Posts

Time to upgrade my pads and pants and was really interested in the Vapor X60s. I went to my LHS to check them out and when I tried on the elbow pads in size large they were really tight. Anyone else noticed this? Do they loosen up after they are broken in? The X40 elbow pads fit fine in size large. The guy working that day didn't know either.

I'm 6'1", 217 pounds and play center and left wing. The guy at the LHS said I should look at the Supreme line as the Vapor stuff runs a little smaller. I really liked the Totalone pants as they have a more traditional fit and have the size tall option. Do I need to have an additional inch of pants at 6'1"?

I liked the Totalone shins, shoulders and elbows but also like the Bauer Pro Series shins, shoulders and elbows as well. Does anyone have any knowledge on the difference for these? Much appreciated!

Have you seen the equipment videos on icewarehouse.com?

Pants should be long enough not to hang up on your shinguards. Try them together. At your height, your inseam will have a lot to do with it, whether you have short or long legs for your height.

I saw the videos for them and even IW stated the Vapor X60 elbows fit tight.

I really liked the Totalone pad line a lot but the Pro Series looked like they would work as well. My impression as I have not seen the two in person is that the Pro Series look a little wider and more suited towards a blue liner instead of a forward.

I appreciate the help regarding the lenght of the pants! Thanks for your help I do not have a very local hockey shop, over a hour and a half as i am stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC.

I really don't know about the fit of Pro Series vs. TotalOne. Unfortunately, while a lot of the advice here can be useful to get you started, it often comes down to having to see equipment in person, and try it on. And that can be difficult for folks like yourself, who don't live close to a shop that stocks what you want to check out.

Can only speak for shins when comparing T1 and pro series, but IMO, there's no question the pro series fit wider. But also IMO, they also seem to fit .5-1" shorter than the t1. Really liking the pro series though.
