greenstripetowel 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2011 I bought my skates a week and a half ago, skated three times and noticed yesterday I have a small crack starting on my outsole as well as very small hairline cracks on the boot next to where the crack is on the outsole. I do not have pictures yet and I don't know what caused this but probably impact from a skate or puck if I had to guess. Is something like that covered under warranty? It doesn't look like a big deal yet but a crack will spread over time and cause a big problem won't it?
Lee-Bro 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2011 So the skates are 11 days old? Go w/ warranty claim.

AIREAYE 248 Report post Posted November 30, 2011 Your store will have warranty policy either on the holder/runner (if they consider the outsole part of that setup), the boot itself (which the outsole should be a part of) or the entire skate. Either way, you should be covered.
shotty 7 Report post Posted November 30, 2011 regardless of warranty coverage, it's worth a hearty fight (although it most likely wont be)
mike_big_mac 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2011 Same exact thing happened to a guy on my team after ONE skate on his new wheels. The LHS said he was hit by a puck, cracked the boot and it wasn't their problem to warranty/exchange the skate. He didn't get hit with a puck, and took the LHS's BS excuse. If it were me, fight 'em all the way!
Axxion89 32 Report post Posted November 30, 2011 If the LHS won't fix your problem, contact Bauer. If a puck didn't crack it then there is no reason a high end boot should crack. Bauer will take care of it, they took care of my problem with my old X30's
greenstripetowel 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2011 Just called Bauer. They told me all warranty related issues go through my LHS and I have to bring it in to them and they will send it to bauer. Within 48hrs of bauer receiving the skates they will be inspected and a decision will be made. Sounds like the LHS doesn't make the decision in this case your friend got shafted by his LHS. I will bring my skates in tomorrow and go from there.

If it were me, fight 'em all the way!even if it was hit by a puck, this is a hockey skate. It is understandable that repeated contact with pucks etc over a period of time will inevitably break a skate, but a skate so new should not break the first couple times its been hit, and the odd time that it does with an exceptionally hard shot the company should fix/replace under warranty because most people won't drop another $800 on a pair of skates after an experience like that.
