pencil test and graf skates (which eyelets)

which eyelets should the pencil test be done and in particular on a graf boot vs say bauer because graf skates eyelets are a "c" shape vs the bauer "L" shape eyelets? I am barely touching on the graf boot all the way through until the top eyelet sitting down.

Will i run into problems later on? How much clearance should there be when doing the test? Just sitting around with the skate on my foot is kinda numb is this cause it's an old school boot so there will be a break in period vs "modern" style skates from the other big guys?
