do plastic inserts in a girdle make a difference

im debating if the d-1 pant is worth the extra money over the d-2. is it just because of the plastic inserts

I think it makes a difference. I was in the same situation as you, considering a pair of v12s or CCMs. I chose the the plastic insert CCMs simply because it does hurt taking a shot in the thigh. But then again I play defense mainly; the forwards on my team wear v12's and so far they have been ok.

Some players wear no girdles at all even at the semi pro and pro levels....up to what you feel most comfortable with. The IDS pucks weigh 3.5 oz(compared to the 5 oz. for an ice puck), and have more rounded edges than an ice puck, so they do not hurt as much, but can still do some damage.

If your playing D and blocking shots and whatnot I would get a girdle with inserts. The CCM 852 is a great girdle for 50 bucks and I can tell u that it works great.

i play defence but im not worried to much about it hurting. i just am worried about if i fall on my ass well it hurt lol

Go with the D-1..It is protective and flexible at the same time...
