Help with a stick

Recommended Posts

About 2 years ago I switched from roller to ice. I always used the easton sackic in roller. I just never felt comfortable on ice with it. If I skate in my natural position my blade is never flat on the ice, I have to really bend over and have the stick way out in front of me to have my blade flush on the ice. I am on the small side 5"5 140lb's. Any recomendations for a new stick. I don't care what brand it is I am a righty. My favorite sticks used to be the old school koho wood jagr and the easton shanahan. I kind of like the way the Easton Chara and roy/gaborik look and the warrior kovalchuk.

**My skating style is more stand up, I play wing and never take slapshots. I mainly want to be able to recieve passes cleanly , take wrist shots and pick up rebonds. Im not the player who will be skating by 2 defenders and making sick moves.

Here is a link from NHL.com that should help you out. http://shop.nhl.com/...tegoryId=222796

This is what I was told years ago...One of the most important specs of the stick is the lie. Lie can be different for everyone. Depending on how you hold the stick and even the position you play will determine your lie and length of stick. I played defense and used a slightly longer stick, my lie was adjusted using threee pieces of information: Puck handling style + lenght of stick + examing your old stick. Your old stick can show certain wear that will tell you whether you need to increase or decrease your lie. I was told this about15 years ago from a defense coach, and it helped me tremendously. I know some experts also include the stiffness, but i am not sure how that applies. I also heard that some coachs can use a high speed camera to examine your puckhandling and shooting to determine proper stick lie. I hope this helps...
