CCM 620 Pants. Forward or Goalie?

Recommended Posts

Did CCM ever make a line of 620 pants for forwards? Or are they all goalie pants? I picked up a pair several years ago at an ECHL sale and have used them sparingly as forward pants. I just bought a new pair of pants that fit me better and was looking at selling the CCM's. Everything I Google about them has them showing as goalie pants.

Thanks,

Eric

The 620s are indeed goalie pants, though they're actually quite close to the construction of 2-piece CCM player pants. I'm assuming they're the round-thigh ones, since the flat-faced ones wouldn't really pass as players'. Do they have fairly wide (~2") foam blocks on the outside and inside of the leg?

Hey Law,

They do have round thighs, but no foam blocks on the outside. There is some plastic in the thigh padding. I had a pair of flat thighed 620's in high school (as a goalie, I just switched to forward), and now that I think about it the construction is very similar.

I thought they had a 620 player model to match up with the 620 shins, shoulders and elbows but I could be wrong.

Maybe Darkstar50 has a catalog or pricelist from 97/98 or so and verify. I very well could be wrong, but I would swear that I saw them at one point.

It could well be that there was a player version in the late 90s. There have been at least six versions of the 620 goal pants (that I've seen, anyway) so it's definitely not a discrete model number, and the fact that every single one of the goalie versions was tagged as a 620G could suggest that the 'G' was distinguishing them from a player model.

The pants from that era were great, the protective was amazingly bad. Those maroon and silver shoulder pads (620 I think) were as bad as anything I've ever seen from a major manufacturer.
