monty11 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2012 A few years ago I purchased a pair of bauer one75 skates to replace my CCM tack 752 which I had since about 2000. My new skates are very stiff and I cannot tighten them the way I could my old skates. The skate does not have the same flexibility as my old tacks and It is affecting my skating. Are there any newer model skates that are similar to my old CCM's and if so which company offers this kind of boot. Thanks.
romdj 26 Report post Posted March 1, 2012 I'd go with the Graf line, or flexlite depending on your budget.it also depends on your foot type, but you'll probably like the 707 and/or G7
tareatingrat 4 Report post Posted March 1, 2012 After a few years they're too stiff, still? Or you only recently started skating on them and you're finding them too stiff?
dalelewis22 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2012 I would also try the RBK 11k boot it is a pretty soft boot and may give you the fit and feel you are looking for. I also would second the Graf suggestion but the pitch of the boot and holder may take some time to get use to.
Hoopster 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2012 I had the same issue... ended up getting a pair of 652 Vacutacks from eBay, must have been used about 6 times. They're exactly what I was after, if you choose to go down that route then it's I'd recommend waiting until the right pair come along.I had tried a pair of Graf 735 and whilst they're undoubtedly excellent I never felt 100% comfortable with them, ended up punting them on to a guy in my team, he got a good deal there !I know a few others who have made the change to Grafs and now swear by them, so it's obvioulsly all about personal preference. If you really want a new pair that feel similar to your Tacks then I can only recommend Reeboks, I got a pair of 6k's (I couldn't justify spending close to £600 on a pair of skates) and they felt the closest 'fit' to my old tacks out of all the boots I tried. They're decent skates.
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2012 I recently upgraded from 652's (retrofitted with E-Pros) to U+06's after 9 years. I'm still breaking them in, but I'm happy with the U+06's in weight, construction, and performance. Haven't had any major issues so far.
redwing80 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2012 i ran into the same issue..i wore graf's (705's) from 1995 up until last month..i picked up a pair of bauer one80 and could not stand how stiff they were..i stopped tying the top eyelet and it made a world of difference in forward flex.. Davetronz 109 Report post Posted March 2, 2012 ..i picked up a pair of bauer one80 and could not stand how stiff they were..i stopped tying the top eyelet and it made a world of difference in forward flex..The one80's are really stiff. I found that the boot was "cut" a bit higher than the rest too. That combined with a tongue that is a bit too thick on the edges made for a tough break-in. MarsB 33 Report post Posted March 2, 2012 My '07 RBK 7Ks were as close as I could find to the fit of my old Tacks.
