Graf Fitting Help

Recommended Posts

I've been looking to get a pair of Grafs, and I've tried on a pair at a LHS, but wanted to get a second opinion before pulling the trigger :).

The pair I tried on in store was a Graf G5 (2010 model), in size 6.5 R. They felt pretty comfortable, but I wasn't on ice so I couldn't tell for sure.

Here are my measurements.

I'm a bit confused by all the heel lock, instep, etc., so advice on which model would be best would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The 5's or 35's look like they are in line. I can't tell for sure but it looks like you have a fairly narrow heel. If you have a narrow heel and you like the medium instep depth of the 5 I would go with the 35's. My foot looks very similar to you except my forefoot is a little wider so I'm in a 735 W width and I love the heel lock I'm getting. I think a 735 or G35X in a regular width might be perfect for you. Try em on if you get a chance.

ngray hit it pretty well. If you have a narrow heel, stay away from the G5's. I have a narrow heel as well and had a bunch of heel slipping. The 35's would be pretty spot on. I would even look int to new G75's too. The 75's will fit closer to a Bauer Supreme, higher boot cut an less of a "C" shaped design of boot cut that the G35's have. Be sure when putting on the Grafs that they are very, very snug everywhere except the toe tox. Graf skates will start to strech out over time kinda like old school skates did. Not to the extent, but much more than any composite now a day (exclude the G75's from this comment). The one thing throwing me off is your inside anckle bone on your right foot. It might just be the picture, but that thing looks way higher than your outside bone. If that's the case, I don't know how the boot cut will affect fit. Just make sure you have almost no negative space and they feel snug, you pass the pencil test, and depending on how small you like your skates, feather your toes on the caps.

I'm in a G75 now, and my previous skate (that wasn't giving me proper ankle lock) was a Supreme One80. I find the G75 completely different from the One80 in regards to fit. Much more ankle lock in the G75, a shorter, more aggressively cut boot, way more forward flex, better tongue materials, and more anatomically shaped to hug the foot a bit better.

But I agree, the OP should give the G75, 735 or G35 a go. His foot looks quite comparable to mine.
