Blade durability issues: Is my lie too low?

Recommended Posts

I don't start many topics, but I was hoping for some input from the wise MSH community.

the last 3 weeks i've broken 3 blades in the same spot, right on hosel. the blade surface and bottom edges are fine. at first i thought it was cause of the poor durability of warrior blades, but the most recent one was a relatively new x60 blade (granted not known for durability either).

Last month I did shorten my stick about an inch, but it was only 1/4" shorter than what it was 2 years ago, because the longer stick was giving me shoulder pains. I've also recently switched to 85 flex shafts up from 75 flex shafts. I've never broken this many blades in this short period of time in my life; a typical blade lasts 3-6 months for me (depending on usage).

2 blades broke while taking a slap shot, and the first one broke receiving a backhand pass.

the location of the break leads me to believe i'm striking the toe of my blade first causing the blade to bend back at the hosel and break. would a higher lie fix this?
