Bauer nexus 600 shoulders

Recommended Posts

Did anybody see the bauer nexus 600 shoulder pads in person yet? I am looking for new shoulders with good shoulder caps and a vest-type body without any extras like separated parts that move/slide ..hope you understand what i mean.

I used to have bauer 6000 shoulder pads (http://www.usaskates...houlderpads.jpg) witch were great! A single peace body witch was kind of soft and nice shoulder caps. but eventually they were too small. After that I used reebok 6k from like 3 years ago. They are not bad but I dont really like the stiff body with all the moving and separated peaces.

I saw the nexus 600 shoulder pads in the 2012 bauer catalogue and they kind of look like the old 6000 shoulders but i dont find any detailed information on them.. does anybody know if it has a single peace "vest-type" body like the 6000s? Are there any pics of the backside? And did anyone of you already touch them in person? How do you like them and how do they compare to the 6000s?

I tried on the Nexus 600 shoulders today and thought they were very solid. They did not have the multi-piece torso like the Totalone shoulders, but may have had something similar to the current Reeboks (torso plus sliding sternum - to be honest I do not remember exactly after trying on close to 10 different shoulder pads). I can say that the 600's had the most dense foams in the torso and back and the small piece going over the shoulder, but did not feel bulky. Interestingly, the sternum guard center piece felt kind a bit soft, definitely not as tough as the Totalones vented yellow piece or the large plastic piece on the Easton 85s. I do not know if that has any bearing on the actual protection level of the pads, but just something I noticed. There is only one bicep piece below the shoulder cap, so different from the Totalone. Only thing I didn't really like was the shoulder cap, seemed to be really large. Also I am not sure how well the ventilation is. All that being said, the Nexus 600's are a comfortable fit (for me at least), easy to move in and I am still considering buying them. FWIW, the most impressive shoulder pads I tried on today were the CCM U+ Crazy Lights.
