Question about Players contracts

Probably a stupid question but will the players lose a year of their contract if there is no NHL season? Also if the players resume play this year will they recieve their full salary?

Not sure on the first. I think the second is based on per season. Ie they get half the season in, they get half their pay.

I thought they would lose a year of their contract because I'm thinking the contracts were signed on a date basis so if a player signs a two year deal on July 1 2004 the contract will expire on July 1 2006. Not on a season basis.

The contracts run their course as if it were a normal year...the only difference being that the players don't get paid while locked out. The players are payed in installments, so depending on when and if they come back this year, they will receive a portion of their contract.
