missionsparta 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2012 I have never had a real issue with wheels. When using almost any reputable indoor wheel, i had pretty good success with them gripping. I mainly rolled with Rink Rats XXX soft Hotshot's and had no issue. Since i have switched from Missions skates to Bauer XR5's, no matter what whole i put on them, my first few pushes seem to 'slip'... Even the Hotshots that I always had great success with. Anyone know why switching skates would cause.me this problem?
Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted June 6, 2012 Did your old skates have the same Hi-lo set up that the xr5's have?

Vet88 674 Report post Posted June 7, 2012 All I can suggest is that the fit is different between the 2 skates. The XR5's may be folding inwards a little more as you push off therefore the downward force you are trying to exert is turning more into a sideways force. A tip from the Victor Baryshevtsev training school, focus on moving the knees straight forward (as if you were running) and don't worry about the stride back. missionsparta 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2012 Well, after many weeks I have figured it out. I took out the old missions skates and set them next to the Bauer's and looked for major differences. The biggest thing I noticed was that the Bauer skate runs MUCH higher up the ankle. I put one of each skate on and flexed the foot as far forward as possible and sure enough there was a big difference. Next skate I didn't tie the skate all the way up and made sure the top was loose. Sure enough the wheel slippage immediately stopped. As my buddy above pointed out, the high ankle was hampering my ankle from flexing and allowing me to put an even amount of force across the wheels, causing them to slip. Just wanted to pass the info along incase anyone else goes from Mission to Bauer. They may be part of the same company now, but the cut going up the ankle is much different.
