Painting a Cage

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have been using a Jofa Bubble for quite some time now and really like it. Having for so long, It has gotten pretty beat up, I was wondering if there were any methods of repainting it that would be recommend, including additional coatings that would reduce the amount of chipping the cage would get.

When i played goalie in field hockey i resprayed a jofa cage as it was beat, i pretty much sanded with 100 sandpaper on the chipped off paint areas to remove any excess rust, and gave a quick sanding all over, sprayed it with a can of auto spray paint (matte black if i recall, only cost £3) gave it a number of light coats to avoid any dripping, and once it dried i gave it a few layers of clear coat (again was only £3 a can) and its still being used at my school (6 years since i used it).

Thats a cheap budget option, it works and does the job, im sure there are also ways of sending it off for sandblasting and repainting/powdercoating that a few comapanies do for goalie mask refurbs (http://www.newimagegoaliemask.com/)
