upgrading skates need some help

Recommended Posts

alright so for the history of me just to get an idea i played a semester in division 2 acha hockey and then have been out of playing games for about 2 years. this fall i am returning to a new school same division and want to upgrade my easton s15's as i bought them in 2007 and they are just getting beat up. i have been playing for at least about 15 years and only have really jumped into the uper skates with my last pair. with my next buy i know that the money spent is worth it, heres the issue. The only LHS' carry bauer supreme line up to the .7s. i am looking at the supreme totalone nxgs as my main point of interest as i have always wanted to go with bauer. while researching the nxgs i read about the apxs. now i just dont know what to do as the local shop with both of these items in stock is about 350 miles. i am going to college taking care of my 2 year and his wonderful mom which works and driving that far just to buy $800 skates isnt going to work as i need other items also. local shops can order i am just not really sure how to even get a feel of a boot so that i dont get the wrong boot. can i base the supreme line and go off that? i have a wide foot (2.56) and 9inches and 15/16. arch is high as when i wet my feet and stand on paper the middle of meet is pretty skinny. i know you guys cant say hey get this boot but maybe you can let me know if i should just wait or try on supremes and go with the nxgs or what. thanks for all your help this is my first post

Ideally, the best skate for you is the one that fits best on your foot. I'd suggest going to your LHS and trying on skates in the Vapor and Supreme line (as high up as your shop carries), and then see what fits your foot the best. From there you can get a basis of which model is more your style. Then, you can evaluate whether or not you want to look at the higher priced models. While you're at it, I suggest that you not rule out any brands or models just because you've always wanted to go with Bauer. A different brand might fit you better than the Bauers. Good luck!
