RBK 20K vs 18K vs 16K

Recommended Posts

Reebok's seem to fit my foot the best but cannot decide if I want to pay $799 for them. Holding the 20K and 16K in each hand they felt the same and looked almost identical. The 16K are $349. Are the 20K worth over double the price or should I save some cash and just get the 16K or maybe even the 18K? Not sure of the 18K price though. I play roughly 3 times per week in a competive adult league.

Playing three times per week is a lot for a third tier skate. At that point, going with the higher level skate makes the most sense to me.

Following what Chadd said, I would recommend the 18K over the 20K. Thicker sidewalls = greater durability. Better value overall.

In the sense that bigger guy or a stronger skater (as is normally found in a "competitive league") will usually break down the stiffness of a mid level skate in less than a year playing at that frequency.

Do the 20K's have the same fit characteristics as the 18K's? A LHS employee commented that the20K's fit more narrowly than the 18K's, and further stated that the 18K had the same fit characteristics as the 11K did. Based on that it seems that the 20K would be more narrow fitting than the 11K was. Is that information correct?

The 20Ks do fit a little more narrow in the ankle than the 18Ks because of the extra padding around that area. To me they felt like supreme skates in the ankle area. In terms of boot construction, the 20K skate is a fused construction where as the 18K is a layered construction. If I remember, the fused construction gives the boot more flexibility but still very durable.
