Need new skates, APX fit great but will they be to stiff for me?

Little background first: Starting 2nd year back playing hockey after 10 year break, was considered a good to very good skater (best skater on a 15yr old AA team) but taking a little bit to get my skating skills back so I would say I am average now but I will get better. I was using bauer skates before but had no skates when I started up last year so I picked up a pair of cheap reebok 6k skates, they fit ok but I always feel unstable on them and constantly tightening them up on the bench.

I have decided to get new skates and I want to stick with bauer since I know I skated good with them. I went to the LHS and tried on all of the skates, the bauer APX fit like a dream!! So I was hoping I could just go down a couple levels in the bauer vapor line but I tried on the vapor 7,6, and 5 and they were too tight against my ankle bone. All the other skates did not fit good. I really hate to spend $800 on skates but I will to get the fit that the apx give me, My concerns/questions are below.

Are these going to be too stiff for me?

Are they too much skate?

Will they make me worse or help me?

The tightness against the ankle bone can likely be fixed through a bake.

its pretty tight and the problem is, once you bake them you own then.....:-( I just want to know if the apx will be to much for me or not and any other negatives I might not be aware of before I go spend $800 on them...

If they fit you as well as you say, and you can afford them, then get them.

I am going to go back up there and see if its possible to bump out the spot where my ankle bone hits on the x 7.0s. I hope so because then I can get a new stick too.....

well I just got back, was going to get the x 7.0 but decided to try on some graf's and after putting the G35s on I found my skate, I thought the apx fit good but these are amazing!! hope they skate good, I was a little nervous about going with the grafs since I have only used reeboks with tuuk or bauers. Will know in about 4 hours.
