Easton Synergy Sizing help

Need some sizing help. I have worn a pair of 1500c for a while in a 6.5R and they fit great. I went to try on my buddies SE10 in a 7R and they felt more "roomy" on the sides of the skate (Heel was locked in), but my larger foot was touching the end of the toe cap somehow. Did they change the toecap/sizing from the Synergy series to the SE series? I found 2 pairs of the SE16 online in a 6.5 and a 7. I want to purchase the 7's, but I am afraid that after baking and breaking them in, that they will become too roomy. On the other hand, they are a composite skate so they will not stretch and I don't want to be stuck with a skate that crushes my toes (6.5 possibly). Any opinions/help?
