MN old and slow 92 Report post Posted January 19, 2013 Today is "Hockey Day" in MN, Outdoor pick up small samples from rinks around the state on TV. Outdoor high school games on TV. The high school theme us metro teams vs northern teams. Much of the state will be playing or watching hockey. Last year TV cameras were at the park interviewing pick up players.. Fox sports will be broadcasting hockey of some form or fashion from 9am to midnight.. Best day of the year. mnpucker 33 Report post Posted January 21, 2013 Amazing Weekend of hockey! The Grand Rapids BSM game in 45 MPH winds on Lake Pokegama was insane an great hockey. I spent my Hockey Day watching my son play tournament games at the National Hockey Center at St Cloud, skating with my older boy between Tourney games on the lake and local rinks, then capped it off with a team hockey party while we watched the Gophers and Wild do their thing. On top of that we listened to my nieces team (U of MN lady Gophers) stretch their record to 24-0, a new NCAA record.Wait a minute, that is how all my weekends go. It seems every day is hockey day in our family. Good Times and a day worthy of celebration, hockey heritage abounds in these parts.The State of Hockey. MN old and slow 92 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 We spent hockey day 2013 at Quarry Park in Eagan MN. Hockey day in MN is better than any other holiday, We then watched the Gophers and the Sioux play on TV. I grew up in Duluth in the 60s/early 70s and every day in Dec,Jan, and Feb was hockey day. Can't wait till next year. Anyone know where 2014 Hockey Day MN main high school games will be?On another subject; growing up we played tennis, baseball, football, and hockey and I believe we were every bit as good as the year round hockey players are today.
