Top end skate widths differ from...

Recommended Posts

Is it common for an APX, NXG,Nexus1000 etc to actually fit a bit bigger (wider) than their respective lower model skates? with the same exact size?

Example my Vapor 5.0 size 6.5EE Actually fit tighter than APX size 6.5EE Is this because of boot stiffness differential or high end models? Would an NXG fit a bit looser than a One.8 for instance?

THX,

Z~

It's not wider, but the fit sensation is a bit different. The APX is 3D lasted and therefore has more curvature in the forefoot. The forefoot walls of the X 5.0 are straighter due to how the boot is molded and lasted. The 3 dimensional shape of the APX gives your foot the sensation of being "cradled" rather than putting your forefoot between two straignt walls like on the X 5.0.

Hope that helps.

That certainly explains why the APX felt less cramped and more molded in the forefoot than the 5.0..

thank you.

As for other skates of high end with the same materials...would that stand true? Also "LAST" and "LASTED" is there a link or explaination for these terms for us Noobs?

For Supreme, all models have a more 3 Dimensional shape. The NXG, ONE.9 and ONE.8 are all 3D lasted (NXG & ONE.9 use a CURV boot and ONE.8 uses ultra-light tech mesh but is built lasted the same. The ONE.7 and below are built in 3 dimensional mold and have very similar to the same interior dimension to the higher end models.

Nexus 1000 is built in a similar way to the Vapor X 7.0 and X 90, thus having straight walls in the forefoot. The Vapor X 80, X 70 are also built this way as were the X 6.0, 5.0 and 4.0. The lower models are built the same way as the Supreme skates in the same price range but lasted differently to ensure they meet the fit profile of the respective family of skate.

The other NEXUS models (800, 600, 400) are all built in a 3 dimensional mold as well, but the boot is split in two pieces rather than one and is sewn together at the rear.
