    I did mine at home. very easy. just make sure you WATCH them through the oven window. AS SOON as the chromatic ink disappears, remove them. OR.... a hair dryer at close rage will also soften them up enough to make minor adjustments, such as curled toe, or a pinch in the arch.

    I was curious because the MX3s for me...in a 6.5 size feel somewhat longer than the 1X does in the same size. I was considering upgrading to the 1S next year, and may try a size 6. Unfortunately for me, nobody has these sizes available to try on..

    About your MX3 in C width post...

    Hi Flyers.. I didn't want to bump an old post, but your topic ALWAYS had me VERY interested in real answers.  It seemed NOBODY had a clue to what you were asking. Yesterday, FINALLY, I have your answer.

    I LOVE the MX3's fit. I love the skate from the holder to the top, HOWEVER the loose feeling ankle pocket always bothered me. On a whim, and through some serious luck, I was able to acquire a pair of MX3 size 6.5C width skates. My original pair are 6.5D width.

    To start it off, (and I know this is hard to believe) but the toecap is a bit WIDER on the C version than on the D. This was first told to me by the retailer in Minnesota over the phone, and confirmed by myself upon receiving the skates. The forefoot is almost identical to that of the D. MAYBE a touch thinner. Here's the kicker..the ankle on the C fits much tighter than the ankle on the D, BUT...

    the placement of the gel/inner padding is the SAME as on the D, therefore, although MUCH better lock than on the D, the C version could have been much improved by moving the padding HIGHER up. overall I was amazed to find that the differences of fit were negligible on the entire skate, EXCEPT for the ankle, and a SLIGHTLY wider toecap.

    If you love the MX3's like I do, but are not happy with the ankle lock AND tight toecap, than the MX3 C width is for you!

    I'm skating on them for the first time today, so I'll let you know if there's any performance change, or dreaded ankle roll I was experiencing on the D version of the MX3.

      Thanks for the info. I used the c width mx3s in 8C for about a year. They did feel better than the D but not as much of a difference as I expected. I recently picked up pair of Jetspeeds in 7.5D and they feel snugger throughout. I put my powerfoot inserts in as well.

      OH OK... I was unaware you tried a C version of the MX3..

      Definitely not the huge change I expected either... I will certainly look into jetspeeds, as I've heard nothing but goodness about them..

      For now, the C width MX3 will be beaten up until I need to replace..

    Anyhoo, I'm GREATLY pleased with the profile of my LS4 runners. Faster, excellent turning radius, and smoother if that makes any sense to you. The balance points you selected for me were spot on!  I would NOT change a thing  except a bit deeper of a sharpening when on harder ice, which I recently experienced in a tournament in Ellinton this past week. Not sure if the LS3 I'm sending you soon would be 1/2 FBV or a bit deeper. I'm still inclined to think the 1/2 is OK. Could we go maybe a step deeper so to speak on the sharpeness?

     

    Please advise, as summer is here and I believe the ice will get even softer.

    Thanks again for such a speedy and professional job. I'll never again skate on stock radius blades! LOVING my custom profile!

    what size plates for what size skate Anjin? Please do report back on fit and other relative stuff.

    the 7 plates fit just snug enough in the 6.5 supremes. The 6.5 speedplates are too loose in my 6.5 vapors. You can always trim to fit. remember...too big, too bad.

    naturally with any piece of hockey equipment there are going to be some instances where said piece fails. It's HOW OFTEN others report on things like cracked speedplates that should be looked at. I'm not sure of the warranty on the plates. Check the downloadable 2016 catalogue for that info. As far as rebaking speedplates.. I've never heard of that necessity. I'd assume that if you feel the need to do so because of an uncomfortable fit, I personally wouldn't hesitate. Did you happen to "hear" of these broken plates instances from people who don't even own them? I have no clue as to how speedplates would crack. I suppose if you kept taking them in and out of the skate 4 times a day, they'd fail.

    your buddy is lucky that his are stuck, mine fall out of my 1Xs. Anyway, in the 1X and the MX3, use a skinny long screwdriver or stiff metal rod to push the plates up, via the 4 moisture holes drilled out in the bottom of the skate.

    Some speedplate info: Not sure if some of you guys have noticed the fit of the speedplates in the 1X or MX3, but they come up "short" to say the least. I ordered a pair for my MX3s which are 6.5D. The plates were ordered as size 7 and they fit perfectly. Both in the 1X and the MX3, it seems the plates were a bit short, causing movement. SO... if you're ordering new speedplates for your skates I'd recommend a half size larger/trim a half size larger than recommended.

    in short. YES. Best comfort and stability I've experienced in an insole. I liked yellow superfeet, but the amount the heel was raised robbed too much volume for me. If I could have MOLDED them, maybe they could have competed with SPEEDPLATES.
