Bauer Supreme One.8/NXG Durability

Recommended Posts

I am trying to decide which elbow pad to purchase, and need to do everything via mail and online research (otherwise I would just go to the store and try everything on).

Has anyone gotten their hands on the new Bauer Supreme One.8 or NXG? These pads look like they have a great strapping system, I am just a little concerned of the durability fo the upper portion where the Vent Armour Foam seems to lop around. Once it is secure, it looks fine. However, when it is in the bag and shifting around as baggage handlers throw my gear around at airports, I just question whether this design will hold up.

I am deciding between one of these pads, and the CCM CL.

Thanks.

I don't think anyone can offer a legit opinion given that they were just released. FWIW, the original TotalOne had a similar bicep design with no issues. It is supposed to be loose and mobile; part of its design.

I wear medium Bauer APX elbow pads. It looks to be of similar construction to the new NXG.

I've found that it is comfortable and protective, however tends to slide down my arm even when the hook-and-loop tab on the lower forearm is as far across as it goes. I don't think I have skinny forearms or anything (thanks Maxim), so in my opinion Bauer elbow pads tend to fit larger than advertised. I would highly recommend trying them on, with your shoulder pads and gloves, before buying online. I wear the top loose so it can rotate around my bicep without restriction, so perhaps this is what is causing them to slip down. If I tightened the top strap, it would interfere with my shoulder pads. Again, I highly suggest trying elbow pads on with your current shoulder pads and gloves before buying.
