Size of Iginla curve?

Recommended Posts

Can someone please provide a measurement of the Iginla curve, and description of exactly where you measure from, to? I am considering giving this pattern a try, but am leary of the smaller size. I am using Kopitar/ Zetterberg, the size of which I consider to be perfect.

Also, how does the face compare to the Kane face? I have seen that the Iginla is a closed face, and also that it is slightly open. I am looking for closed face.

It is a short blade but once you get used to it (which shouldn't take long), I think you will like it. Its the only curve I will use, everything else feels too big and clunky now, I have way more control with the iginla especially stick handling through traffic compared to any other curve Ive used.

The Blade is just slightly under 10 & 1/2 inches long from heel to toe.

I would say that it is a closed blade or just ever so slightly open. It is less open than a kane curve so if youre looking for a closed face, the iginla could be exactly what you're looking for.

Another thing to note is that most of the curve in the blade is a bit more mid-toe than mid-heel like a kane.

Anything else just let know, Iv used this curve for years and I love it.

hey Kyle,

This is really helpful info. Thanks for the 411. I just placed an order for 4 of these, and think I will enjoy using them.

As discussed in another post, my biggest issue right now is pass reception. With the Kopitar (P92 Backstrom clone) paddle, I keep seeing pucks flying over the top of my blade, especially when I try to catch the pass at the center of the blade. I know, catch with the heel, but easier said than done when one is skating through and into traffic, and trying to stay balanced while reaching for so-so passes (which I am guilty of sending too, of course). Anyway, with the smaller paddle, I may be continuing this problem, but I am thinking now that as long as I can catch passes with the entire paddle, then it ought to work out. And seeing as how I have never successfully handled through traffic (I am not that type of player as I am not shifty and do not have great hands), well, this may be a double win- we shall see. I do need to maneuver with my hands around the net when I am trying to move the puck around a sprawled out goalie, who has left a wide open goal for me off of a rebound if I can just move the puck 4 feet from left to right or right to left and bang it it, so this could be most ideal for that.

Anyway, thanks a bunch- I used to be around your area (Redondo Beach) but am now on the other side of the planet. I saw an awesome outdoor ice rink or inline rink or something in the San Diego area, right on the beach and was. So, I just placed an order with my favorite online vendor, and hopefully ought to have these paddles in my grasp within 3-4 weeks.

Cheers.
