Pro Stock CCM U+ PRO Skates question

Recommended Posts

I've been having trouble with skates lately and was on Pure Hockeys web site looking around and found a pair of CCM U+ Pro skates. They are pro stock and not assembled. I bought them for $200.00 they only had one pair. I plan on putting tuuk holders on them and wearing them until the Tacks come out unless I fall in love with these. Louis Eriksson and Joe Thornton still wear these today so I figured there must be something good about them. I HOPE that because they're pro stock that they won't fall apart like the retail ones tended to do. What do you think about them?

The very nature of pro stock implies that they could be anything from exactly the same as the retail model or completely customized. We don't know anything about them otherwise.

Typically pro stock skates are made in a different place. Definitely not exactly like retail. Usually double stitched. I know custom bauer came from Canada when retail was china. Im also wondering how good the skate is overall. My reebok 11k were stiffer and better constructed than retail for sure

Not necessarily. A team could buy retail gear from the vendor and distribute it to their players. For the most part, this isn't the case from what you see online, but my point was that you need to give more info as opposed to just saying 'pro stock'.

There are a couple of guys from PH on here. Kyle Stevenson on facebook should be the one to ask, he does good work for them. JR might know too.

I basically wanted to know what people thought of the u+ pros and if I should expect them to hold up well and be a really good skate or if they are going to fall apart like the retails did...or if pro stock versions weren't having the issue

The U+ Pro skates I've seen all had the same delamination/separation of the layers of the quarters that the retail models suffered from.

I have some CCM U+ Pro skates I got from Notre Dame pro stock for $120. They have a made in Canada tag in the tongue. They are very stiff, have from factory Tuuk holders on them, and have a super thick felt tongue with plastic insert in it. I've had them for over a year skating 3 times a week with no durability issues. I'm very happy with them overall.
