How do you tell if a blade is tapered fit?

I just bought this:

and I didn't realize that it was available in a taper fit because there's a 950 'taper' that's all black.

I got it today, it has no glue on it, but it seems really small for my Easton Ultra Lite shaft.

it fits in so far that it goes past the little lines where it should stop...

should I just return it or is there a safe way to make it fit?

Return it.

Tapered are a lot smaller than standard and are shorter, as well.
