youth skate fit issues

Recently I purchased a new pair of skates for my youngest son. His first pair were outgrown and worn out. (low end Bauer Vapors) The employee that fit his skates said he didn't have wide feet, but he is now complaining the outsides of his feet hurt when he skates. He has had to quit skating, it hurts him that bad.They put him in the Bauer Supreme 160s which I thought were a little wider than the Vapors. Is this an issue with the skates just need to break in, or is it an indication that they are too narrow? I am looking for any advice you might have.

You don't need to buy new skates. Just get the store to stretch them wider.

Well, a punch is for spot problems, stretching works the width.

Yes, I know.. I guess I just figured it was certain spots as your entire foot hurting would probably be evidence right away. Either way... Stretching should hopefully help and then you can punch certain problem spots if they persist.
