shutthepuckup 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2014 I've got 4 Bauer One6's. All of them have the Lindros/Kane curves(which I think are the same). I've had them for a few years now. These were my first one-piece sticks. Before owning these sticks, I used a Sherwood 5030 with the Coffey curve. When I used this stick, I has some pretty good pop on my shot(for a rec league guy). I then moved to a two-piece stick, using a a shaft that I picked-up at an auction from a minor pro team that had ceased operation and I used a wood Sherwood blade with the same Coffey curve. With this stick, my shot wasn't as hard. With the one-piece sticks, my shot is so-so. No consistency and I've struggled to find the right balance between stick length and the flex I need. Two of the sticks have been cut-down several times, only to decide I need more length to get the flex right and so I would put a wooden extension plug in the end. The other two have been slightly cut-down and I've left them their current lengths. So I've decided that I want to try a wooden blade again, for the stiffness and because I really liked the Coffey curve. I can't decide what is the better option to spend money on; buying wood blades and extension plugs and trying to cut the one-piece sticks down to accept the new blade and adding end extensions to get the length I need, which would probably be right around $100 for all four sticks or just taking that money and buying three of the old Sherwood 5030 woody that I was once powerful and mighty with. My only real concern with just going back to a wood stick is the durability of the blade. I can kinda remember the wood blade splitting and splintering fairly easily. My concern with cutting the one-pieces down is the blade not fitting right or the stick not being very functional as far as flex and/or durability. So, I need some guidance and advice. Anyone have any experience cutting down one-piece sticks and putting new blades in them? If so, did they perform as well as expected? Anyone purchased or used 5030's recently? If so, are they anymore durable than the versions from about 10 years ago? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
