Suggestions for Narrow Heel, Wide Forefoot Skate

Recommended Posts

I ended up going with the Bauer Supreme 180s in a 6D. Heel fits very snug and I don't get crazy amount of pressure on my forefoot. I'll provide an update on them after I skate on them in my game tomorrow night.

I am new to the game (played years back mostly roller 14-17) now 33 and started about 2-3 months ago. I went through lots of skate try on's reading etc. I started with Nexus 6000 which i got in a 10 D. They really hurt breaking in, now are awesome. My foot is SLIGHTLY wide basically in between D and E, so for sneakers, work shoes etc, it always depended on the cut / last. I tried a pair of APX2s in 10EE which i feel fit but maybe a bit long, or different stance I felt scared to skate hard in the public skate I tried them in (I actually had them baked, didn't buy them but basically got them half price to give them a shot sightly used, but will resell them). I think the EE fits but maybe a tad too wide , even though in the toe box i felt a little pressure (ended up cutting the tabs). I also tried on but didn't skate in, 10EE MX3's also presure in the widest part of my foot, though slightly , I am sure could be punched out). I just settled in realizing the Nexus boot after break in seems to fit my foot best. I am glad i tried on and out as much as I could , as its good to know for the future and to know what cuts fit good or bad. I love being back to skating in general and starting hockey again. Just wanted to weigh in as I didn't see Nexus in the line up that you tried.

PS: I would go 9.5 if I had to do it again, I re-tried on a nexus in 9.5 at the store and I feel it fits better then the 10's I have , a tad tight but after a break in and bake would likely be best.

Update: The Bauer Supreme 180's fit very well on me. I have a little pressure by the heel of my feet but no biggie. I have great heel lock and after baking the skates, there's no pressure on my forefoot (purchased the skates in a D size).

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Interesting that you went with a Supreme for a narrow heel. Maybe your heel isn't as narrow as you originally thought, and getting a proper size was the most important factor to obtain heel lock.
