Heel Shape Guide?

Recommended Posts

I have been looking for a heel shape guide/photos to show what constitutes a straight, moderate or pronounced heel shape. Not much luck on the internet.I have been going through some skate issues lately. I have a wide forefoot, narrow ankle area and high instep The new Grafs (9035) did not work because I found them to fit very wide in the heel area. I tried Vapors in EE but the heel is slipping a bit although the forefoot feels great. Tried ezee booties but they felt like I was wearing thick socks. I did not feel connected to the boot. I want to try a pair of Graf G35S

The fit is narrow heel, prounounced heel shape with wide forefoot. I need to see if my heel shape is considered straight, moderate or pronounced. I will be ordering these online. I have already purchased the last few pairs of skates at my LHS and have not been fitted properly. Help?

Your foot sounds very similar to mine. I agree with 9035, such a shame they don't have a narrow heel version. I couldn't get a heel lock with G35 ultras and as my heel slipped up in the boot, it smacked into the top of the "pronounced" heel cup. A few skates later and the pain in my achillies was unbearable, I couldn't even get on the ice unless I padded up my ankles big time with foam pads to get a lock. Now using G5 ultras with no issues after 2 years, on the ice every day. I've tried every top end Bauer skate over the last 4 years and none of them are for me. Rbk and CCM are too wide so don't even bother. One of the best fitting skates I ever had for a narrow heel shape was Easton SE16's and although I haven't tried them many here say the Mako is a good fit for narrow heels / wide forefoot. Other than this maybe consider a pair of custom VH skates?
