malsindff 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2014 I play ball hockey and I had this great chance as the ball got to me right in front of the goalie. It wasn't a breakaway as there are opponents near me. The goalie was in his butterfly position and I had no chance of shooting it through his legs. I deked him out of position but it was too late when I tried to shoot it, the opponent got to me. was this a bad decision? What could I have done?
Chadd 916 Report post Posted December 10, 2014 Hard to say for sure without seeing the situation first hand. If the goalie is down, changing the angle by moving side to side quickly is usually a good move. Moving back a foot or two to get a better angle can help, as can shooting it off the leg pad to get the rebound in a better place while making the goalie hold their position. JonoDigz 4 Report post Posted December 25, 2014 If a goalie is down in butterfly and you are in tight you will need to get left or right asap and elevate the ball.... In ice hockey you will often have to create even more space by backing out in order to get the puck elevated. Just not enough room from in tight to get the leverage on puck. This is of course unless you have NHL hands, which 99.9% of us don't have.
