Frames and wheels?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Not really familiar with all the frames and wheels out there....but here it goes, I'm getting another pair of Vapor XX's and converting them to roller, but I have no idea what frames to look at nor what wheels. I am looking for a light combo and wheels that hold grip and are pretty durable on a sportcourt like surface. So I guess I'm asking is what are some good frames and good wheels?

Thanks again!

frames: sensor, alloy, e-frame, hum'er (if you want to mess with your boots a little)

wheels: dynasty pro, factory z-rated, rinkrat hornets/hot shots

Mission chassis (if you can find them) are excellent too, my personal favorite.

Most chassis are Hi-Lo (Mission, Red Star, Bauer/Nike, older Labeda):

two 72mm wheels on the front, two 80mm on the back.

72mm on the front for acceleration and agility

80mm on the back for speed and "braking power"

Mission have pre-rockered front wheels for even better agility.

The newer Bauer/Nike chassis have a pre-rockered back wheels

(not very useful by itself) to avoid patent problems with Mission.

Red star frames (at least the E-Frame I tried) have a more neutral pitch,

some people seem to love that, I don't. I prefer the more aggressive

forward lean of the Missions. But this is a matter of personal taste.

Bauer/Nike should be similar to Red Star. The Red Star Alloy or the

Mission He950 are the lightest chassis.

There's also "straight" chassis, all wheels have the same diameter. The

Labeda Hum'er is all 80mm with the same pitch as hi-lo chassis. Some

people claim better performance with them. Ask MDE3 he is the Hum'er

evangelist :)

As for construction, try to buy a fully extruded chassis. Most high-end

chassis are fully extruded 7000 series aluminum : Mission generator,

penetrator, d1c, d1, He750; Red Star E-Frame; all labedas?; high-end

Bauer/Nike chasis. Or fully extruded magnesium alloy : Red Star Alloy

or Mission He950.

I think that sums up pretty much everything :)

:o .....moi?......I never thought anyone noticed....They will NOT be lighter though...all 80 mm wheels takes care of that.....but those larger front two wheels are hard to notice from behind......
