General Skate Holder Question-

Why do holders have the large gap between the front and back mounting base. I would assume the bases are separated to allow the holder to flex between the various sole-plates of the different skates brands and styles. If this is the reason, how do T-Blades function since they are joined between the bases?

The reason to prompt my question was during my game the other night, an opponent end up with his stick blade getting caught in my skate and I face-planted. Reflecting back, I've seen this a few times in my kids games as well as in the NHL. Seems this could get real dangerous real quick. I've also seen pucks get wedged in the holders as well.

The shape is a holdout from the original metal holders. Two posts were done to save weight. A solid metal holder would have been far too heavy to skate with.
