Labrat198 7 Report post Posted November 19, 2015 I have been wondering what exactly people mean when they say such and such skate has a +1 pitch out of the box, or have a +2 pitch done on the blade. Is that a setting on the machine, or a measurement made on the blade, or something else? Is there a specific area that you measure from to determine where a skate is at? I have seen people talk down shops that just have "Forward, Neutral, and Defense" options, but I don't see how its any better to say a +1 or -1 if its just a general term for more or less pitch. But you can get equivalent pitches by adding shims between the holder and the boot. Also, some holders (CXN or Graf) and perhaps boots have some additional pitch (over what is generally considered to be neutral, but even that is probably based on some historical bauer holder).
