Wrapping blade holder in carbon vinyl

Recommended Posts

Hey guys ?

My name is Gabor, and I've started ice skating about half a year now, and I'm planning on joining my local amateur league soon.

Now, I'm using a pair of Bauer X.30 skates, but I'm about to buy new skates with replaceable blades (X.60 maybe?), so I thought maybe I'll jazz up the looks of the X.30 a bit

Can I use some carbon fiber looking 3M DI-NOC vinyl to wrap my blade holder?

Will it keep the holder from smaller cuts?

Can I apply it easily on the holder with an air-gun and some elbow grease?

If anyone has any experience in this topic, I'd appreciate the help :)

(sorry for my terrible grammar haha)

I don't see why you couldn't. It may get chewed up over time but it's also obviously replaceable. I'd be interested to see how they hold up.

Well, maybe I'll get to it, then ^^

The only reason I'm not sure is because I've never seen or heard anyone covering their holders (I've seen painted ones, but they were pretty roughed up and the paint chipped off)

I hope the vinyl won't chip off since it's a different kind of material

When I'm done, I'll upload some photos and share how it went :D

Bah, I've tried to do it, but it turned out to be a nightmare :D

The vinyl couldn't stretch enough to cover the surface, and the holder has such complicated geometry that it's impossible to cover the inner surface of the holes on it

Well, it was worth a shot

Di noc is very stretchy with a heat gun. Ive wrapped more complicated surfaces than a holder with di noc (car nose). A holder would be pretty easy to do.
