Pros/cons of passive and mechanical rockering

Recommended Posts

Full transparency... brand new to inline.  Have been skating on ice for last year and just bought my first pair of inlines (Alkali) so I can more easily work on my skating year-round.  Not sure I'll play roller, right now just focusing on technique and skills.

Been reading up and talking to folks about rockering as I want the transition to be as seamless as possible. What's the deal?  My LHS told me NOT to get wheels a size down front and back because "it wouldn't work if the chassis is not designed for it".

I've seen plenty of threads and articles here and elsewhere that recommend the oOOo "passive" rocker set up.

Then I see the mechanical solutions (TUUK Rocker, Sprung, and Marsblade chassis).

Trying to understand the pros and cons of each (stock same size wheels, smaller wheel rockering, chassis based rockering).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
