When do you bite the bullet and replace warn wheels?

What is your go to sign that it's time to pull the trigger on new wheels?

 

Generally for me i get a season or two out of a set of Grippers before "i think" it's time to replace them. Wheels always end up cracking and chunking out for me, i cant remember the last time i actually wore down a set of wheels before they cracked. Not sure if that's because i;m a 200lb'er or if thats just how wheels wear. 

 

What's bugging me is that I never really know when it's time to ditch them and drop another $60 on wheels. Even when I know they are cracked badly, I can still usually skate on them just fine, and cant honestly remember if I notice a real drop in their performance. Either way, I always end up getting to a point where i just cant stand to look at them anymore and swap them out.

I start sliding a little in stops and notice a small loss in control.

then its rotate or eventually replace.

If you begin to feel slide on turns and stops then replace. If it is just getting a little warn down you can rotate them. Good rotation is key to get maximum life out of your wheels.
