Sizing "difference" in Vapor Composite vs non-Composite Boots?

Recommended Posts

A few years ago I was in the Vapor X7.0s in 9D then switched to the original Makos in 9D and then for about the past 2 months was in JetSpeeds 9D. I've come to a realization that the Vapor fit is simply the best fit for my foot.  Now I remember when I got X70.s I tried on a few different sizes along with trying on an 8.5D APX which felt too short.  Today I picked up a pair of X800s and to my surprise I ended up going with an 8.5D.  I also tried on X600s in 8.5D and my toe was too tight up the toe cap in those.  I know the difference in the X800s and X600s is composite vs tech mesh, but I'm surprised that the 8.5 APXs a felt too short while the X800s felt fine.  Anyone else have an experience where they drop half a size when the boot material changes in the Vapor line?

I noticed something similar between the supreme 190 and 180, which are both curv.  I attribute it more to the different foams and liners.  I suspect the sizing on a baked skate would be similar.

As a side note, if you were in a 9D in the X7.0, then a 9D in Jetspeeds is definitely too big for you.  Jetspeeds fit 1/2 to a full size smaller than Vapors.

Yes i painfully found out that the jetspeeds were the wrong size. Really painful pinch in the arch/instep area. When I tried them on in the store I guess I was more intriguied by the heel and ankle lock than noticing the length.
