Can you unpunch a skate?

Just bought some used skates and size wise, they fit perfect, but they've been punched out big time on the inside of the boot, down and in front of the ankle bone.  As far as I can tell this doesn't affect the fit (just looks a little goofy).  If I heat it up, can I push it back in?  Do I just leave it?  Is there something I'm missing out on by leaving the skates punched and using them as is (after a bake)?  I'll throw some pics up here in a minute.

You can heat it up and massage it back, to a certain extent.
