Shin pain above ankle

I know the cause of the pain is due to the padding inside the boot coming apart (you can see the white plastic). I definitely need new skates, but in the mean time, will gel pads/gauze work? The pain isn’t directly on the ankle, but just above on the outside shins.

Yes, if you pad it out so the boot does not come in contact with your shin it will work. Gel pads are really good for this.
