Inno Novius Shaft

Recommended Posts

I'm comtemplating the purchase of an adult Innovative Novius tapered grip shaft 300 flex and was curious if anyone has used one before.

If so, would you share your experiences...

1. How is the grip? Too tacky, not tacky enough, just right?

2. It is reported to weigh in at 450 grams...does this make it appear to be too heavy, or shaft heavy if a inno blade is used?

3. Is the boron spine technology worthwhile or is it just a useless gimmick? Does it really do anything for your wristers, snappers, slappers?

4. Would you recommend or not recomment this shaft, and why?

Any info you have on it would be appreciated.

1. Just right

2. It's not 450, thats a misprint, the 450 is the Novius Fused

3. Never used it

4. See #3

I had the non-grip version. It took a while to get used to, as that whole dual-concave thing and, as I recall, had a little bubble somewhere near the bottom to help the kick piont... but I digress. Once I got used to it, it was a nice little stick (had a really good, noticeable kick on slap shots).

I only had one, but it didn't appear to have the same kind of durability that I had with my 1100's.

Also, grip it probably the way to go, as I didn't like the normal version (the sticker-like covering (not as bad as the Vectors) chipped up easily and made it look a bit more trashy sooner than it normally would had they used paint, IMMO).

As for the weight, I don't know if it's changed over the years, but back in '03, the non-grip, standard (not tapered) shaft weighed 315 grams.

I've been using one for a few months now, and I like it a lot. I normally don't like grip, but the Inno soft grip is great. You can still move your hands around while stickhandling. It is a little bit heavier than a Flyweight, L-2, and XN10, but I think it is balanced well with any graphite blade. The shot speed seems on par with all the other tapered shafts (except for the XN10, which has the hardest shots for me).
