Bauer Pro vs CCM Tacks AS1 Shoulder Pads

Hi! I have shoulder pads from 2009 - Nike Bauer Lightspeed Pro. They were continued by the nexus line. They feel pretty good, but I was wondering how far things have advanced in this field. While I like these pads, my usual concern is that they are a bit bulky, and front and back stick out a bit as well.

My LHS does not have CCM AS1 in stock, so I have to buy online.

- Are newer CCMs worth the upgrade for the sake of upgrade on your opinion? 

- Is the body protection (overall padding) decent enough? Nikebauers seem like they are padded almost everywhere with HD form.
