tblade hollows

Recommended Posts

i was on the t-blade site, and i usually use a Medium 11 (M-11) t-blade, and i weigh about 135lbs. On the site it says that someone my weight should be using an M-15 and that you should be at least 90kg (198 lbs) to use an 11 hollow. Is this true? The 11 feels like the standard cut for me, but maybe i'm using something not suitable for my skating

yea thats what i was thinking, 11's felt good for me, but that chart got me a bit curious. I'd go try the 13 but im not sure if its worth the money.

after thinking about this a little more... i might spring for all the hollows (i like my M rocker so ill keep that) and just try them all out... since everyone says its personal preference (including myself).. im thinkin that if i find my favorite one now i can stop having to experiment... all ive had is an 11 and a 13. sure its gonna cost money but its better than wondering the entire time..

maybe ill write a mini review ;)

i'M 14 yr(6''/6'1 and 180 pound)

i tried the S-11/S-13/M-13/M-11 and M-9

and i must say the S-11 was my favorite...for a power forward like me it was really easy to cut behind the net but maybe is me or it a matter of heavier-lighter person...that the Small rocker in general last about 5to 7 hours less than the MEDIUM roccker..

So now i'm using medium rocker only(for durabillity question) and i don't really like 13...they dont feel enought sharp for me...so i'm using 11 since 1 years now!!!I tried a pair of M-9 like 2 weeks ago and i must say THERE REALLY SHARP!!!!LOL...i had difficulty to make a 180(skate backward)...but after 1-2 game...they feel just like i like them!!and they last me for about 10 game(having a 2 inch edge(pissed me off))

CONCLUSION:if you can play with sharp blade i think the M-9 is way to go!!!if not ...go for the M-11

I used an M-9 last year and I was only 5'5 125lbs. I only went with it because that was the only way I would get over 10 skates with t'blades.

I think I have come to the same conclusion, I have the m-9 on now and they are alittle to much for me. I'm going back to m-11. I weight ~195. So if you are not sure what to buy I say go with the m-11, they worked best for me and others....

Logically a smaller player would benefit from the added bite of a deeper hollow. Meanwhile a larger player would likely benefit from less bite as their weight and strength should allow them to cut as needed.

this is my thirdish season with t-blades, in the begining of this time when i was smaller i used m 11 hollows, but i have always liked sharp skates. after a short while i moved into m-9's and would never consider going back. my greatest asset to my team is my speed, you might say i play offensive defence, and occasionally a powerful forward when required. i am 6 foot one, and now weigh around 200 lbs

I started with an M-13 which came standard. Tried S-11 and M-11, then a S-9. Then worked back up tp 13 and 15. Without any doubt, more glide with the 15 hollow and it lasts longer. Dad gets them for me so lasting doesn't really matter, but the 15 is definitely fastest. I go between M and L. Either is pretty close.

It's crazy how for some people a 9 is fastest and others it's the 15. The GRAF Canada guys use 15 or 18 and swear by those. BUt I guess we all need to try and come up with our best set up for us.

I'm 5-7 130 pounds, and i felt that the M-13's didn't have enough bite or sharpness for me, so i switched to the M-11's and they are great. How big is the switch from the M-11's to M-9's?

^^^

In my experience, the difference between the M-11s and 9s is that the M-9s are too sharp off the bat. However, after about 2 or 3 skates the M-9s are perfect and stay sweet forever. The M-11s are great right from the get-go, but don't seem to hold the same stability of edge for as long. I'm using the M-11s now as spring has sprung and the ice is warmer. In the winter I use 9s. The glide is better with the 11s, but edge to edge responsivness is better with the 9s. I'm 5'8, 165lbs.

Also, for me, the difference between the M and S is that the S gives a little more agility, but I found the toe cutting out when I made big "C" cut skating backwards. The M, I think, gives the best of all worlds between stability, agility, and glide.
