Asv pro skates fitting issue

Recommended Posts

Hi all have a question about some ankle pain im getting when trying on my brand new skates. I just got my new asv pro skates delivered today. Had to order them online from a different state. I live in Adelaide Australia and the local skate shop didn't have any in stock and rarely stock ccm. So without knowing how the fit would be I ordered these skates in anticipation they would be good being that they are the top of the line without going custom. So my issue is that when I lase up the skates they feel fine but when I rotate my ankles at certain spots I get pain on the outside of my ankles on the bone that protrudes out. I realised and worked out that it's because my ankle bone doesn't sit In pocket that the carbon fibre allows for the ankle and actually sits a little bit towards the back of the skate and the stiff carbon fibre doesn't have any give.

So my question is, I haven't had them baked yet. Will after baking these would the carbon fibre and the ankle area soften enough to mould around my ankle in that location?

Everything else about these skates so far I absolutely love. I've only owned bauer skates before these and have always had an issue with the forefoot area not being wide enough, I decided to give these a go and immediately could tell a difference that forefoot area is perfect for my feet and my foot fits very well in that regard. Hoping we can find a solution here for my ankle problem as I would hate to give up these skates. Thanks

Bake them and find out.

If they fit you well everywhere else just get the ankle punched, your shop should be able to do it. Put some lipstick on the top of your ankle bone, foot in boot and press it hard against the side, the lipstick will transfer and now the shop knows exactly where to punch.

Yeah will do next week, just was tossing up weather to do it or not just incase it didn't work and I needed to return them. But I think I'll just wing it and see what happens.

I didn't think about this and didn't realise this could happen. For some reason thought it only worked with punching out the forefoot area. But awesome idea, if baking doesn't sort it out then I think I'll be doing this. Thanks for the advice 👌

If it doesn't work out you can return them.
