NHL draft?

Recommended Posts

Yeah thats a good idea. The whole idea that teams such as Pittsburg and Washington should be "rewarded" twice for one bad season doesn't seem right. For all we know, one of those teams could have been this year's Calgary, Anaheim, Carolina, ect.

IMO, they should take every teams overall record over the last 5 or so years and do a lottery based on those standings. This way teams that have been bad or mediocre for a long time would benifit while teams that dominate year to year would still end up with a late pick.

I like that idea. add up wins and losses over the last five years and then weight the system based on that winning percentage

I like it too, as a Rangers fan. 7 years of futility might finally be rewarded!

it would be cool if all teams had a shot at the #1 pick but they should still weigh the lottery in favor of the lesser teams.

but i can picture it now. sidney crosby wearing the winged wheel. how about zetterberg, datsyuk and crosby on a line?

According to a player agent, the draft will take place as soon as a collective bargining agreement has been signed. The draft order would be the same had there never been a lockout.

The draft will be deep, some players who were drafted in 2003 have still not been signed to a contract by July 1st will go back into the draft. Looks like Patrick O'Sullivan and Kyle Quincy will go back into the draft. Any Kitchener Ranger fans out there? When did Evan McGrath get drafted by the Wings?

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave teams like a week to sign players before they re-entered the draft.

Especially if their rookie contracts will be governed by the CBA in place when they were drafted like has happened in the past.
